Quebecers who don’t go along with rules requiring face coverings in indoor public spaces can be fined as of Saturday.
Premier Francois Legault says most residents have followed COVID-19 public health guidelines, but some aren’t following the rules.
Legault says that is posing a hazard to public health.
Masks are mandatory across the province in indoor public spaces and on public transit.
Legault announced today the fines will begin Saturday.
He says the tightening of the rules will focus on so-called yellow zones — currently four regions outside of Montreal that have recently seen an increase in COVID cases.
