The Eastern Ontario Rural Network (EORN) is publicizing its latest initiative on broadband access, and member municipalities are helping out.
McNab-Braeside Mayor Tom Peckett is encouraging residents to fill out a survey on internet service speeds in their locality as part of the process of collecting data to lobby governments and other stakeholders to help cough up the cash.
Those who can are asked to complete an assessment of the internet speed at your residence during three separate dayparts.
By taking part you are authorizing your data to be used in the EORN research.
The McNab-Braeside Mayor says the EORN initiative is not an overnight fix, and could take up to five years to deliver once all the pieces are in place.
The actual amount the regional municipal group is seeking, as announced by EORN Tuesday, is a public-private partnership totalling 1.6 billion dollars.
