It appears that one of the Ottawa Valley’s biggest tourist attractions plans to stay closed until next summer. Owner Chris Hinsperger says it was a difficult decision, but in the interest of safety he will keep the attraction closed through to the 2021 season. Hinsperger says people have to make their plans and rather than keep folks hoping on a daily basis the caves would be opening up, he had to come to terms with closing them for this season. He mentions that on a busy day in July or August, there could be 300 people on-site and mask-wearing while underground is not an option. Hinsperger says everyone he has talked to is supportive of his decision and people are telling him they’ll be sure to be back to visit the Bonnechere Caves again in 2021.
