A prolonged period of hot weather is expected and therefore Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for most of Renfrew County. This afternoon through Sunday, temperatures could peak close to 40 degrees with the humidex. Weather officials say that extreme heat affects everyone. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. Symptoms of heat related illness can include dizziness/fainting, nausea/vomiting, rapid breathing and extreme thirst.
