Renfrew Victoria Hospital is moving to a new model of inpatient care, starting in less than a couple of weeks.
A team of physicians known as Hospitalists will soon be making the rounds of inpatient visits at Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
Julia Boudreau, President and CEO of RVH says the change is being made in part to address stresses on the current system, due to numbers of orphan patients without a family doctor.
She says recruitment is now underway.
Starting July 6th, the Hospitalists will work one-week shifts, providing care, following up on tests, meeting with family members, answering questions, and coordinating overall care for all inpatients.
The Hospitalist model is used elsewhere, including at Pembroke Regional Hospital.
