Pride Week in Renfrew County is next week (June 22nd to 29th).
Chapter Lead for PFLAG Renfrew County, Jill Holroyd, says celebrations this year will be a bit different due to COVID-19. Holroyd says the first flag raising ceremony will take place this afternoon (June 18th) in Deep River with other local municipalities joining next week. Holroyd says they will be filming the flag raising ceremonies and sharing them on social media so people don’t have to come out and gather in groups.
Holroyd says Pride Week events will include a special screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Skylight Drive-in (Tuesday, June 23rd), an Animal Crossing party along virtual Zoom events and workshops to teach you what it means to be Two-Spirit and how to be an ally the LGBTQ2S community.
The Chapter Lead for PFLAG Renfrew County says it’s important to celebrate Pride to send signals of respect, hope and love to everyone.
Holroyd wanted to thank all the sponsors for helping make the 2020 Pride Week celebrations in Renfrew County possible. You can follow Pembroke Pride, Renfrew Pride and Arnprior Pride on social media to get more information about upcoming events.
