Financial changes are coming to the McNab-Braeside budgeting process.
Mayor Tom Peckett says the measures were brought forward at the McNab-Braeside ZOOM meeting Tuesday (June 2nd).
A new, dedicated work-in-progress, or WIP reserve will keep unspent project monies in their own account, rather than putting it back into a central pool at year’s end only to pull it out again the next.
Peckett believes it’s an accounting practise that could benefit all of Renfrew County, were it to consider the move.
The Mayor says the big change affecting your pocket is how you choose to pay your local taxes.
Mayor Peckett credits administration, headed by CAO Lindsay Lee, and the municipality’s new Treasurer Kelli Coughlin for bringing forward the ideas.
