Police in the Renfrew area have been busy dealing with domestic disputes. In the last four weeks the Renfrew detachment of the OPP has responded to upwards of 40 domestic incidents. Officers in the Renfrew area are averaging over one call a day to a domestic dispute.
This past week (May 4th-May 10th), the OPP in Renfrew say they investigated seven domestic disputes and charged two individuals with assault. One of the accused is also facing counts of disturbing the peace, uttering threats and possession of a schedule one substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Renfrew OPP responded to 15 domestic disputes the week before (April 27th – May 3rd). Between April 20th and the 26th, police responded to nine domestic disputes. Going back to the week of April 13th, the Renfrew OPP say they investigated another nine domestic incidents.

The Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County has also said in times of lockdown women are much more vulnerable to abusers and they’re seeing an increase in calls for help.
