Before you do, there are some things you need to know.
The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) has a list of tips entitled, maintaining your sedentary sedan.
Leaving a vehicle parked for a long stretch can be hard on certain components, like the brakes.
Surface rust forms on rotors after only three or four days of sitting idle; longer periods can see corrosion damage your vehicle’s brake system.
The battery will also gradually drain— to the point where your car may not be able to start. Try to drive your vehicle between 20-30 minutes once a week.
It’s a good idea to keep the gas tank three-quarters full to prevent condensation from forming inside.
Put wooden blocks underneath your tires to keep the cement from drawing air pressure out of them.
Take advantage of the warmer days ahead to deep clean your car’s interior; anything you touch should be cleaned and disinfected, and you can use rubbing alcohol or even hand sanitizer to do it.
The underside of your car can be a cozy, shaded place to be, and so it’s not strange to see rats, mice, and maybe even insects find their way under the hood, behind the tires, or even in the exhaust pipe.
And, once we’re cleared to go- Happy Motoring!
