COVID-19 has had a deadly impact on long-term care homes. The Country Haven long-term care home in Almonte is reporting a 26th resident has died from COVID-19. At the 82-bed home in Almonte, 36 residents have tested positive including 12 staff members.
At Stoneridge Manor in Carleton Place almost all of the residents have tested positive for COVID-19. The numbers released from the province show 51 residents and seven staff members at the 60 bed facility have tested positive with six deaths reported.
While long-term care homes in Lanark County have been hit hard, there are no homes in Renfrew County that are considered in an active outbreak status. One staff member at Miramichi Lodge in Pembroke tested positive for COVID-19 over a month ago, but has since recovered, and no additional cases have been reported.
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has confirmed 17 cases of the novel coronavirus including 12 that are considered resolved and one death.
