Quebec Premier Francois Legault says attendance will not be mandatory when elementary schools and daycares in the Montreal area open on May 19th. Elementary schools and daycares outside of Montreal are expected to reopen May 11th. Officials in Quebec are pushing the idea of “herd immunity” which involves exposing children to COVID-19 to help them develop a natural immunity. The province of Ontario announced on Sunday that schools will remain closed until at least May 31st.
