Even though we haven’t heard much from the Dental profession as of late, April remains Oral Health Month.
The Ontario Dental Association (ODA) notes that dentistry is not deemed an essential service under Ontario’s Emergency Declaration.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, only emergency dental care is currently allowed.
All non-essential dental appointments (check-ups, cleanings, teeth whitening, etc.) are being rescheduled.
If you think you have a serious dental issue, call your dentist. They can talk to you over the phone or, when possible, over video to determine if your issue requires immediate treatment.
If you don’t have a dentist, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario has a list of emergency dental clinics on its website.
The ODA reminds you to take Care of Your Teeth When Your Dentist Can’t.
We’re familar with washing our hands for 20 seconds each time.
It’s a different ritual for brushing teeth- you only need to brush for 120 seconds, twice a day.
The ODA says Floss is boss.
Did you know that avoiding stress is a good dental practise? Doing so keeps you from grinding your teeth.
Eating a balanced diet and snacking in moderation are good things. Chewing sugarless gum is not only good exercise, it helps clean your pearly whites as does limiting your intake of alcohol and marijuana- if only for their tendencies to stain.
Tobacco intake can be even worse; it’s stinky, it stains and its not good for your health.
