The risk of flooding is diminishing to normal levels and officials have terminated a flood watch that was issued on April 9. The Ottawa River Regulating Committee says water levels are decreasing along the stem of the Ottawa River from Pembroke down to the Montreal region, largely due in part to decreasing runoff from melting snow. With little rain in the forecast, normal spring freshet levels are expected over the next few days. You are reminded, however, to maintain your distance from waterways with high flows and where banks are unstable, parents are asked to talk to their children about the dangers of playing near water.
