The government of Canada has handed out an estimated $15-billion in support through the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). This morning (April 17th), Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said they have processed over 7.5-million claims for the emergency funding that provides eligible workers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic with up to $2,000 per month.
Trudeau also announced $1.7 billion to help clean up abandoned oil and gas wells, a $750-million for a methane emission reduction fund and $500-million to Heritage Canada to support arts, culture and sports. An additional $962-million will go to regional development agencies and the Community Futures network with $270-million going to industrial research assistance programs to support innovators across the country.
