Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says whatever your situation is the government is working to get you help. The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) launched today and Trudeau says so far over 240,000 people have applied. If you are set up for online payroll with the CRA you will receive money in 3-5 business days. Trudeau says they will be announcing support for those who have hours reduced at work, those making less money and for college and university students.
Trudeau says you can apply for the emergency benefit online or by phone. If your birth month is January, February or March you can apply on Monday. Those born in April, May and June can apply on Tuesdays. For everyone born in July, August or September you can apply on Wednesdays and for those born in October, November and December the designated date is Thursdays. Everyone is able to apply for the CERB on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The number to call if you can’t apply online for the CERB is 1-800-959-2041.
