Mental Health Services in Renfrew County continue during these COVID-19 stir-crazy days.
The requirement to self-isolate and keep physical distance makes it even harder than usual to ask for and receive emotional support — particularly for those living with mental illness.
Mental Health Services of Renfrew County (MHSRC), is a program of the Pembroke Regional Hospital, and is an essential service locally.
Mental health and addictions case workers are meeting with new and existing clients, via teleconference where possible.
Another way to access mental health and addictions support in the region is through the Crisis Line (1-866-996-0991).
About half the calls received since early March are about coping with the virus, or threat thereof, and inquires are up by almost a third year-over-year- so be patient when you call in.
Self-care and information resources may be enough to get you through.
You will find a variety of materials at bouncebackontario.ca
Specific to COVID, the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre may help allay your fears.
