A special meeting tonight is expected to see Renfrew Council pass amendments to the town’s procedural by-law to allow for electronic meetings during a declared emergency. All of council is expected to participate via telephone, however it will be video recorded and posted to the municipal website to maintain transparency and open lines of communication with rate payers. According to a memo from Clerk Kim Bulmer, council will consider video conferencing and live-streaming options. Details will be shared once finalized. In the meantime, all council and planning meetings remain postponed or cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with the exception of meetings considered necessary to address critical and time sensitive matters.
