UPDATE: Information municipal authorities received has now changed and there is NO individuals listed with COVID-19 in the Pontiac.
The Pontiac has reported their first case of COVID-19. The municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract confirmed the case in a social media post this afternoon (Monday, March 23rd).
According to police the individual has been forced into isolation outside the Pontiac. The name of the individual remains confidential, but police say they are under 30-years-old and were in the Pontiac this weekend.
As of Monday afternoon, there were 8 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in urban areas of the Outaouais – up from the one case reported late last week.
The Screening Clinic has been operating with extended hours, boosting the number of people who can be tested each day. 1,703 screening tests have been done and 505 results are pending. As soon as results are back each patient is notified as quickly as possible.
The CISSS de l’Outaouais commends the efforts of its teams in working with the homeless.
A designated isolation area has been set up in order to welcome the clientele of the Gîte-Ami or of the
Soupe populaire, who could be showing symptoms of Covid-19. This designated area is an outside location, which makes it possible to isolate each person with symptoms.
If you think you have had contact with anyone having symptoms relating to the virus, you are asked to self-isolate and call 819-644-4545. Quebec residents concerned with the crisis are encouraged to visit quebec.ca/coronavirus.
