More cases of the novel coronavirus keep showing up in Ontario with 50 new cases reported as of this morning. Three Ottawa residents are among the new COVID-19 cases reported today (March 20th) with another 25 that have information still pending.
One of the Ottawa cases involves an 80-year-old man who travelled to Portugal and is currently self-isolating. The other two confirmed cases are in 40-year-old males who contracted COVID-19 from close contact and are self isolating.
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has not reported any local cases of COVID-19, but those returning from international travel are asked to self isolate and everyone is asked to self-monitor for symptoms.
Symptoms range from mild – like the flu and other common respiratory infections – to severe. The most common symptoms include: fever, cough, difficulty breathing, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, sore throat, runny nose and diarrhea.
Anyone who thinks they may have COVID-19 is asked to self-isolate and seek advice over the phone. You are asked to contact either Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000) or the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (613-735-8654 ext. 577).
Details on new COVID-19 case information is shared daily around 10:30 am and 5:30 pm online here.
