Quebec’s Outaouais Region has its first confirmed case of COVID-19.
The Board of Health (CISSS) held a press conference Wednesday afternoon to announce the details.
Officials say the infected person had travelled, and likely contracted the novel corona virus while overseas.
She presented at a CISSS facility after taking all necessary precautions.
The patient is currently in self-isolation at home.
The Public Health Department is rigorously tracking down all possible contacts the individual has had since returning home, and these individuals will be contacted by phone.
CISSS is assuring residents the risk of infection remains low.
The woman is the first individual among 281 persons tested in the region since screening began on March 6th to show positive.
