Strike action continues with local teachers. In the latest update, all Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario members will be on the picket line outside of their school and worksite for a minimum of twenty minutes at least once per day starting this week. Also, all members will be doing a full withdrawal of services on Monday, March 23rd. Meanwhile, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation will pause their withdrawal of service job actions beginning next week. But, rotating strikes will continue through to March 27. Members of the AEFO say that negotiation dates have been booked with the province for this week, but if no deal is reached the union will announce the next round of strikes. In a statement, the Education Minister for the provincial government says their focus is on negotiating so students can remain in class as opposed to being negatively impacted by continuing escalation by the teachers’ unions.
