Real-time heart monitoring is proving to be a life-saver at Arnprior Regional Hospital.
Vicki Hallas, Manager of Diagnostic Imaging at ARH says the new system replaces a more cumbersome and time-consuming system of portable analog heart monitors.
Hallas says the new system doesn’t involved looking over hours of graph printouts or screen displays.
The Diagnostic Imaging Manager says that in one case, a patient put on the new monitor after a visit to emerg proved inconclusive- and didn’t leave the hospital grounds before being called back in for treatment that could have been a life saver.
The real-time monitors are covered by OHIP, managed through the Ottawa Cardiovascular Centre and include 24/7 customer support for the patient.
