He caught the Ace and now he’s the Valley’s newest millionaire. Mike Adlington’s name was pulled and he picked envelope 42. It was an emotional response at Finnigan’s in downtown Renfrew when the Ace was finally revealed after 46 weeks of play. The hospital raised just over 2.5 million dollars, blowing their initial 100 thousand dollar goal out of the water. The hospital and the foundation are thrilled with the support, according to Julia Boudreau, Senior Vice President of Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
With those funds, the hospital will get a new x-ray suite, a portable x-ray, defibrillators for every department and they’ll help finance anesthesia equipment for the operating room. Adlington, who was notified by phone of his winnings, will receive a cheque for 1.6 million dollars from the Renfrew Victoria Hospital foundation. It’s been a wild ride for the foundation staff and their volunteers; they’ll now take a small break before starting round two of Catch the Ace. We hope to catch up with Mr. Adlington for reaction to his new found wealth, in the meantime you can see the live draw on our facebook page.
