The taste of spring and warm temperatures will be short-lived as Environment Canada issues a winter storm warning for the entire Ottawa Valley. Weather officials say the storm will likely begin tonight and end sometime tomorrow afternoon. We can expect anywhere between 20 and 40cm of snow. However higher amounts over 40 cm are possible, especially near the Quebec border. Police are asking you to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. You should also prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Meanwhile, Director of Renfrew’s Development and Works department, Mike Asselin says it’s going to be a busy night for his crews and it won’t be easy to keep up with the amount of snowfall we’re expected to get.
You’re reminded that over night parking restrictions are in place and to make sure you don’t leave your vehicles on the roads. Asselin is also asking residents to consider holding back their recycling tomorrow (Thursday) and put it out next week, just to make snow clean up easier.
