Environment Canada is calling for bitterly cold wind chills overnight and into Friday morning. There’s a low of minus 30 tonight, but feeling more like minus 38 with the windchill and a risk of frostbite. Temperatures should rise Friday morning, however some areas in Eastern Ontario may experience these wind chills again Friday night into Saturday.
You’re reminded to keep emergency supplies in your vehicle such as extra blankets and jumper cables. Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks to warm up. Remember if it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
Environment Canada says extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
