Shawville native and renowned Chef Renée Lavallee has made it onto the Food Network show “Wall of Chefs”. Lavallée, the Chef and owner of The Canteen in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia is one of 12 judges featured in the show. She is no stranger to the spotlight, having been a top-five finalist on season 7 of the Top Chef Canada. Lavallée has called Nova Scotia home for 13 years after spending close to 20 years working in restaurants in several different countries. After leaving Shawville, she trained at George Brown College in Toronto and did a year-long apprenticeship in Italy. In each episode of Wall of Chefs, the host guides four home cooks through rounds of culinary competition, while Lavallée and the other celebrity chefs judge their offerings. Other chefs on “The Wall” include such culinary greats as Rob Feenie, Susur Lee, Lynn Crawford, Mark McEwan and Michele Forgione.
