Both Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew and Miramichi Lodge in Pembroke have been notified of a cyber-attack that possibly compromised residents’ personal information. Director of Long-Term-Care for the County of Renfrew, Shelley Sheedy, says they’ve reached out to LifeLabs to see if residents information was accessed. Sheedy says it’s concerning to know the homes won’t be contacted directly and residents will only be notified by mail.
Sheedy says the individual she spoke to at LifeLabs could not confirm if Bonnechere Manor or Miramichi Lodge were impacted. She says the online appointments process is what seems to be at risk. Sheedy adds since both homes don’t use the online booking, she’s hopeful no residents have been compromised.
She adds it’s possible that residents personal and medical information was breached. Staff have been directed to send a letter with the Warden’s signature expressing concern about the lack of response to the cyber-attack. Notices have also been placed in both homes.
