Funny money is circulating in the area in the form of 50s and 100s. The Renfrew OPP are currently investigating the counterfeit bills, which were used at multiple businesses in both Renfrew and Arnprior. This follows a report of fake bills being passed in Pembroke and Laurentian Valley earlier this month. As the investigation continues, the OPP would like to remind you to pay careful attention to currency when paying or accepting payment in cash. Ways to protect yourself include checking the serial numbers on the back of the bill, feeling for upraised writing and double checking the hologram. If you suspect your money is fake, contact the OPP.
