Hooray for Coaches Day is presented by Mickey’s Sports and Promotions. We are profiling Lacey Smith and Miko Sobreira.
They’re a dynamic dancing duo, who bring years of experience and a little international flavour to the dance scene in Arnprior. Lacey Smith and Miko Sobreira are the parents of two beautiful children and recently relocated to the Valley in hopes of sharing their passion for music and movement with local residents. They teach from their home, and Miko says the only challenge they face is getting people to the space. Once someone is committed to dancing, he says the rest is easy. Miko is from South America and danced socially in Venezuela at a young age, while Lacey began her training in ballet at the age of three. Miko was invited to work in Canada 25 years ago, he fell in love with the country and made it home. Lacey says she grows as an artist when she teaches, she sees it as a wonderful opportunity to deepen her own practice. She adds we’re not a really physical culture and loves watching people get into their bodies through dance. Lacey and Miko run Dasein Dance, Dasein translates to ‘be there’ to be present in your body.
