Active transportation in Renfrew County continues to grow and the Ottawa Valley Cycling and Active Transportation Alliance couldn’t be more excited. The annual meeting of the alliance was held at the end of November at the Eganville Legion where it was learned that public and government interest and recognition is growing. Outgoing Warden of Renfrew County Jennifer Murphy was on hand for the meeting, noting that the county has budgeted $150,000 each year for the last number of years for hard-shouldering as part of its Active Transportation Policy. As of the end of 2017, the County had hardened shoulders on 180 kilometres of roadway and over 220 kilometres by the end of 2019. To also mark the occasion, Gearheads in Petawawa raffled off a $5,000 e-bike. The winner was Norman Mathurin of Renfrew.
