On September 27th Queen’s Park announced that it would be contributing the lion’s share of funding for the proposed reconstruction of Ferguson Lake Road in Greater Madawaska Township.
MPP John Yakabuski confirmed that the Province would put up 4.6 million of the 4.9 million dollar estimated cost of repairing 9km of the arterial route in the Township.
Mayor Brian Hunt says Greater Madawaska’s share of the invoice amounts to about 320 thousand dollars.
Hunt says the engineering firm Greenview has been authorized to do the surveying and road design to give the Township a leg up on the project before winter begins.
The Mayor says Council agreed to sole-source the initial portion of the job to Greenview because the firm’s familiarity with the file would be a time-saver.
