Arnprior Mayor Walter Stack’s efforts at compromise on the special levy to local businesses to pay for the Ken Scissons Parking lot aren’t sitting well with a representative retail group.
The Mayor introduced a motion to subtract brownfield-related costs from the quarter million dollar levy, by subtracting 54 thousand dollars from the assessment, and Council supported Stack’s recommendation Monday (November 25th).
The small group of downtown business representatives who had attended the meeting were unimpressed with the gesture, according to Greg Paluviskie, owner of Jim’s Restaurant
The business group is likely to consider its options going forward in the new year.
