It’s good news for local residents who frequently use the old Highway 62 bridge on Borne Road in Laurentian Valley. The County of Renfrew’s operations committee will be recommending to county council that the almost 100 year old bridge be replaced in 2020. Director of Public Works and Engineering for the county, Lee Perkins tells myFM news what the next steps are.
The cost of the new stringer bridge will be roughly $700,000. In the meantime, the current bridge will be closed to traffic due to safety concerns. However, the bridge will still be open to ATV and pedestrian traffic until the new bridge can be constructed. The detour is about six kilometres or a seven minute drive.
