It’s a case of neighbours helping neighbours in Renfrew County. Whitewater Region will be sending a letter of support for Pembroke’s bid to secure funding for a new Aquatic Fitness and Community Centre. Whitewater Council had the discussion on Wednesday night in Cobden and voted in favour of supporting their neighbours business case as they apply for infrastructure funding. It was mentioned by council members that students at local elementary schools use the current aquatic facility in Pembroke. The Township of Whitewater Region will also be supporting Admaston-Bromley in its bid for an upgrades to the Douglas rink. In return, Admaston-Bromley will be supporting a funding letter that Whitewater Region will be submitting for change room and accessibility upgrades at the Astrolabe Arena in Cobden. Applications under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program grant in the Community, Culture and Recreation stream must be submitted by Tuesday, November 12th.
