A new funeral option is coming to Arnprior.
Pilon Family Funeral Home will be offering Alkaline Hydrolysis in addition to traditional embalming and cremation services.
The home’s Director, Andre Pilon says the process should not be confused with cremation; it’s more proper term is Aquamation.
The process leaves only bones, which are then pulverized and returned to the family in an urn.
Arnprior Town Council authorized the initiative at its October 28th session, after approving a zoning amendment for the Pilon home earlier in the year.
The operation permit issued by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario arrived at the funeral home on Wednesday (November 6th).
Pilon’s becomes the only Ottawa Valley funeral home to currently offer the Aquamation process that will join the roster of funeral services available at the home, likely in January.
