Another round of senior government infrastructure funding has piqued the interest of the Town of Arnprior.
Recreation Director Graeme Ivory says staff would like to give the Nick Smith Centre an accessibility makeover, consistent with current criteria.
Ivory says Arnprior will be asking the Province and Feds to put up the bulk of a 1.5 to 2 million dollars in upgrades the NSC, beginning with the pot-holed gravel parking lot, where accessibility at the Centre begins.
The Recreation Director says there has been a good amount of public consultation, including a major Recreation Needs Survey that residents participated in about a year ago.
Ivory says aspects of the makeover will feature a family change room for the pool, an accessible washroom inside the Community Hall, and new change rooms for the Bert Hall Arena.
The Rec Director says the deadline to apply looms, as it is November 12th just before midnight.
If approved, the Federal Government would pay 40 percent of the cost, and Ontario’s share would be 33 percent.
