The Surete du Quebec brought the Halloween Safety message home to students in the Pontiac and Gatineau by having members dress in costume and pay surprise visits to area schools last Wednesday and Thursday.
Agents Guillaume Bernier, Marc-Olivier Chabot and Sergeant Yves Martineau made a pitch on the rules to respect when out trick-or-treating.
Martineau was disguised as Batman, Agent Bernier played the Joker and Agent Chabot was the uniformed escort, as the trio contacted designated students at each school to herald their arrival, then visited the Grades 1, 2 and 3 classes who met their heroes in the playground.
During the performances Batman would collar the Joker, then the pageant would go indoors for the safety lesson that included trick or treating and candy consumption tips.
Depending on which of the 20 schools that were visited, either the Joker or Batman would hand out printed safety tips and a reflective armband.
The SQ program made for a special Halloween for students in the Pontiac and Gatineau.
