Irate residents of Charles and Arthur Streets walked away discontented with the Town of Arnprior’s procedures in turning aside their concerns over the loss of sidewalk-plowing for their streets at Monday’s municipal meeting.
Mayor Walter Stack says there was no attempt to bamboozle the residents, but elected representatives have to follow proper procedures to govern the community.
A staff report into concerns raised by the residents to Council at its September 23rd meeting contained nothing new, and was presented to elected representatives for information purposes only- but not so advertised on Monday night’s agenda.
That’s where the situation of what to do next arose on the spot.
The Mayor said he consulted the rule book during a ten-minute adjournment.
Although a majority of Council wanted to amend the decision, it fell short of the 2/3 majority required to do so.
