The Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) is partnering with the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation. Chair of Equity and Inclusion Committee, trustee Marjorie Adams, says the board is looking to add First Nations representation. Adams says at the board meeting Tuesday night, a resolution was passed to engage in formal discussions to appoint an Indigenous trustee.
Adams says First Nations education is funded by the federal government. She says since they don’t have a school in Pikwakanagan, many students attend the RCDSB.
Adams says they want everyone to feel included. She adds they will contact their partners, who will select an Indigenous trustee to sit on the Renfrew County District School Board.
