In the Pontiac, Liberal Will Amos is grateful for his margin of victory.
He claimed almost half the votes in an eight-person race.
With 275 of the 278 polls reporting, Amos polled 48.6 percent of votes cast.
Conservative rival Dave Blackburn, placed second with 16.9 percent support.
Third went to Jonathan Carreiro-Benoit of the Bloc Quebecois, at 16.3 percent.
In fourth place was the NDP nominee, Denise Giroux with 10.5 percent.
She is followed by Claude Bertrand of the Greens who garnered 6.0 percent of votes cast.
In the also-rans category, Mario Belec of the PPC took 1.3 percent, followed by Shawn Stewart of the Veterans’ Coalition Party, 0.3 percent- and last but not least, Marxist-Leninist Louis Lang who claimed 0.1 percent support.
Amos says across the country, voters chastened his party- but the Liberals will respond to the minority situation.
The MP says while happy for the win, he was dismayed by the negative tone some rivals displayed on social media.
