The OPP have wrapped up two major safety campaigns in this province. Operation Impact was held over the Thanksgiving long weekend, and the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment say in total, they laid 45 speeding charges, 19 hazardous moving violations, and two charges each of distracted driving and seatbelt violations. Seven drivers were also charged for stunt driving for speeding in excess of 50 kilometres an hour over the posted limit. On the bright side, no impaired driving charges were laid. Meanwhile, the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment also held its fall seatbelt campaign from October 2nd to the 11th. During that time, 85 motorists were charged with seatbelt offences.
