Youth homelessness is an issue in our community and one woman is doing her part to not only raise funds, but to raise awareness for the problem. Tracy Smith is the woman behind One Cold Night, an event in Arnprior that aims to raise money for the Renfrew County Safe Shelter for Youths. The local grandmother says she was inspired by a similar event in 2018.
Smith says there will be hot soup and hot chocolate, provided by the Legion, as well as some giveaways for those participating. One Cold Night is Saturday November 9th, 8pm until 6am and participants will sleep outside of Arnprior’s Giant Tiger on the sidewalk. You can bring a pillow or a blanket if you wish. Participants are encouraged to collect pledges, and forms can be picked up at Giant Tiger as well as the Nick Smith Centre.
