Members of Whitewater Region Council had concerns about a bill for paramedic services amounting to $25 000 resulting from the 2019 Flooding in the municipality.
Chief Administrative Officer-Clerk Robert Tremblay says without knowing what or whether other jurisdictions in the County were charged for paramedic services, all he can say is that the wellness checks performed by County paramedics were an invaluable part of flood relief in his community.
Tremblay says expenses for flooding in the township well-exceeded the three percent threshold of eligibility for Provincial compensation, and the $25 000 for Paramedic Services has been passed on to Queen’s Park.
The CAO says it’s Renfrew County’s decision who it decides to bill for what.
The issue was discussed by Township councillors at Whitewater Region’s October 2nd municipal meeting.
