With one possible strike by CUPE members across Ontario slated to possibly impact local boards on Monday, another shoe could be about to drop.
Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) members from the Renfrew area will hold a confidential members’ meeting and a central strike vote on Monday, October 7th.
At this member-only meeting, elementary teachers, occasional teachers, educational support personnel, and professional support personnel from the four Renfrew locals will discuss central bargaining issues.
The ETFO Provincial Executive has asked members to demonstrate their support for ETFO’s bargaining priorities by authorizing a strike mandate.
Holding a central strike vote is one part of the legal bargaining process established under Ontario labour laws.
There are two ETFO central negotiation tables; one table for teachers and occasional teachers and the other for educational workers, including early childhood educators, education support personnel and professional support personnel.
Any ensuing labour action by the group would affect elementary schools with the Renfrew County District School Board only.
