CUPE gave notice yesterday that its 55,000 members would walk off the job on Monday, prompting some school boards to start warning of disruptions and possible closures.
myFM News asked some citizens and parents for their thoughts.
The affected employees at the Renfrew County District School Board work in information technology, clerical, facilities and custodial staff. At the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board, it is just custodians included in this strike notice.
The Union says it’s prepared to resume contract negotiations but says it will go through with the strike if there’s no resolution in sight.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce called on CUPE to return to the bargaining table and reach a deal. (With files from the Canadian Press)
