Auxiliary units with the OPP are starting an awareness campaign about “safeguarding” your home, cottage or business. The OPP SafeGuard Ontario Property Security Program is a community-based crime prevention program that is meant to reduce break and enter crimes, increase support to victims of crime, reduce re-victimization and help citizens to take an active role in helping prevent crimes. Some tips from the auxiliary include locking your doors and windows when leaving, don’t hide keys in secret places, install motion sensor lights and avoid posting on social media sites when you will be away from your residence.
