Ferguson Lake Road needs some serious attention and Greater Madawaska Township simply can’t afford the cost to repair it. However, a funding announcement today from the provincial government will go a long way to ease the burden on the taxpayers. MPP John Yakabuski was on hand as Mayor Brian Hunt announced more than four million dollars in funding for the reconstruction of the road way. Hunt says there are plenty of roads that need their attention, so taking Ferguson Lake off of their plate would free them up for other projects.
Design work and surveying is expected to be done next year, with the work set to begin in the fall of 2020 or the Spring of 2021. The total cast of the project is 4.9 million dollars with the Conservatives footing the bill for 93 percent of the work. The remaining seven percent, roughly $320 000 will come out of taxation.
