It was only quick thinking that saved the day early Saturday morning in the Pontiac.
Surete du Quebec officers say they had to take evasive action to avoid being hit by a vehicle that had entered Highway 148 without stopping at Wilson Road, near Bryson.
The driver did not stop for police and led them on a chase headed west.
SQ say he pulled into his yard, hit a tree and tried to run off into the woods, but officers caught up with him and placed him under arrest.
The 30-year-old Clarendon man remained in custody pending a bail hearing at the Gatineau Courthouse.
Possible charges in the incident include impaired driving, refusal, flight from police and dangerous driving.
