A local mother is taking her greatest grief and turning it into hope for youth struggling with anxiety brought on by excessive bullying. Hannah was 14 when she died and her mother, Tasha Cowell, says her daughter was a loving and compassionate young woman, who put others first.
Hannah suffered anxiety due to bullying and passed away following a severe attack in July of 2018. In memory of their daughter, Hannah’s Mother and Step-Father created Hannah’s Heart, an organization that offers strategies and programs for youth struggling with anxiety. The official launch coincides with an event on Saturday in Westmeath. Hannah’s Heart Youth Festival runs from 1pm to 6pm at 379 Greenway Drive; it’s free to attend but they are collecting donations at the gate. The day includes appearances from Pembroke’s Sierra Levesque, Jennifer Jane Clarke, Hannah’s brother Nicholas Maillet and country music artist Brea Lawrence.
