The Town of Renfrew’s Mat-te-way Activity Centre is the venue for the 29th Annual Parkinson’s Super Walk in the County, and this Sunday is the date.
Check-in will begin at 10AM, and the walk starts at 11.
You can be inspired by local Superstar Superwalkers like 57 year-old Philip Severin, a regular SuperWalk attendee, first came to the event in 2008. Now, he is known as a SuperStar walker because he raises over $1000 each year.
The 57 year old who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 12 years ago says he continues to walk and raise significant funds because of the connection he feels to other people with the disease.
Parkinson’s affects more than 100,000 Canadians, with 25 people being diagnosed every day.
With an aging population, the numbers of those diagnosed are expected to increase to 51 per day by 2031.
Since 1981, Parkinson Canada has invested more than $29 million in research.
